What is Meth?

Methamphetamine is a highly dangerous and addictive drug. 98% of those who try meth
can become addicted after using it one time.

Meth is a synthetic drug that is made from common household products. Some
products used to make meth include: Rubbing Alcohol, Paint Thinner, Freon, Drain
Cleaner, Ephedrine, Battery Acid, Lithium, Acetone, Ether, Muriatic Acid, and etc.
These chemicals are highly explosive, therefore commonly resulting in deadly meth lab
explosions. For every one pound of meth that is produced, five pounds of hazardous
waste is produced, directly impacting our environment.

Meth can be smoked, snorted, injected or taken orally. Its appearance varies depending
on how it is used. The finished product can be a liquid, a powder, or pills. It can also
appear in the form of crystal meth or "ice" resembling clear, large chunk crystal that
looks similar to rock candy. Meth can be any color.

Meth use dilates the pupils and produces temporary hyperactivity, euphoria, a sense
of increased energy and tremors. Meth affects the brain's system that controls the
body's reproductive and nutrition functions. It can cause convulsions, stroke, brain
hemorrhage, permanent brain damage, heart attack and sudden death. It can also
cause fatal kidney and lung disorders, liver damage, chronic depression, paranoia and
mental disorders. The average meth user dies within five years.
